OUR POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

VALUES & GUIDING PRINCIPLES

The Minnesota Chill Foundation is an organization where diligence, compliance, integrity, professionalism, and safety COUNT!

We are committed to providing a safe, secure, healthy environment and experience for all our children/youth participants and their families, staff/affiliates, volunteers, board members, and the greater community. One that is free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation and promotes professionalism and respect for others. We know that it’s not just elements like our Mission statement or Objectives that create success in our organization – it’s the people. Everyone associated with our organization brings different skills and talents and is treated with respect, dignity, fairness, and equity.

We have established guiding principles and developed several policies, processes, and procedures to demonstrate this unwavering commitment.

Some of these are:

CHILD/YOUTH SAFETY AND PROTECTION POLICY

DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

CHILD/YOUTH SAFETY AND PROTECTION POLICY

Guiding Principles and Commitment Statement

We pledge to conduct the work and business of the organization in ways that promote the academic/athletic growth and development of our children/youth participants and their physical, emotional, and mental safety. This pledge also applies to all individuals who interact directly with them.

We, therefore, developed a comprehensive safety and protection policy along with its accompanying procedures/guidelines to:

  • Better protect our children/youth against potential *perpetrators/abusers and incidents of misconduct or inappropriate behavior;
  • Follow appropriate and reasonable safety measures when recruiting and selecting staff, affiliates, or volunteers;
  • Have well-defined procedures for reporting suspected incidents of abuse or mistreatment consistent with Minnesota Laws and Statues;
  • Require our staff/affiliates and volunteers who work with our children/youth know, understand, and adhere to all our organizational policies and procedures; and
  • Enforce a zero-tolerance policy for sexual, physical, or mental abuse of children/youth.

*Perpetrators/abusers intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly commit acts of physical, mental, or sexual abuse or neglect of children/youth or allow it to happen. Examples of perpetrators/abusers are parents/guardians, other family members, clergy, teachers, neighbors, strangers, etc.

HARASSMENT POLICY

Guiding Principles and Commitment Statement

The Minnesota Chill Foundation’s policy is that our staff, volunteers, and others acting on the organization’s behalf and those we serve receive respectful and professional treatment in the workplace – where their unique talents, skills, and perspectives are valued and embraced.

A respectful workplace is about more than compliance with the law. It is a working environment that is safe, comfortable, and free from all forms of harassment (including sexual harassment), inappropriate behavior, and conduct that can be considered coercive and disruptive. We will take all harassment complaints seriously and have a process in place to address such complaints in a responsive, diligent, fair, and objective manner.

CODE OF ETHICS

Guiding Principles and Commitment Statements

Leadership: To accomplish our mission, we will strive to meet the highest standards of performance, quality, and service. We will, in all ways and at all times, act ethically, honestly, trustworthily, and responsibly.

Responsibility: We recognize our commitment is to our community’s well-being. We will responsibly govern all aspects of our business to our community and the individuals who entrusted us with their gifts and needs.

Personal and Professional Integrity: Everyone associated with the Minnesota Chill Foundation (i.e., staff/affiliates, volunteers, and board members) will be held accountable to act with integrity, honor, and reliability in conducting business for our organization.

DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

Guiding Principles and Commitment Statements

We value the diversity of our community. In principle and practice, we recognize that the diverse nature of our Board, staff/affiliates, and volunteers is one of our best assets. We further:

  • Respect each individual’s gifts and talents;
  • Promote an atmosphere where uniqueness, differences, and multiple perspectives are accepted and encouraged;
  • Prohibit unfair or discriminatory practices against anyone because of age, race, national origin, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, marital status, disability, or any other characteristic protected under federal, state, or local law.

Exercising these guiding principles in everything we do is not simply about complying with the law. We also believe it is the right and critical approach to strengthen our programs, the children/youth who participate in our programs and their families, and the greater community we serve.
