MN CHILL Foundation was proud to help sponsor Foundation Elevation’s inaugural Community Impact Award, recognizing individuals who make a lasting difference in their communities. The first-ever recipient, Roger Backstrom, is a shining example of leadership through service. As the longtime owner of Brooklyn Park’s Godfather’s Pizza, Roger has been a dedicated supporter of youth, mentorship programs, and local initiatives that bring people together. His generosity extends far beyond his business—he has been a major supporter of Zanewood Rec Center, always ensuring that young people have a warm meal while participating in events that build character and connection.
One of the most impactful programs he supports is the Teens and Cops Basketball Showcase, an annual event that fosters trust between local teens and Brooklyn Park police officers. With teams made up of youth and officers playing side by side, this event strengthens relationships and unity within the community. Last year’s showcase even welcomed members of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx, making it an unforgettable experience. Roger’s commitment to empowering youth perfectly aligns with MN CHILL Foundation’s mission, and we are grateful to have him as a strong supporter of our work. His dedication serves as a powerful reminder that true leadership is about giving back, and we celebrate him for the lasting impact he continues to make.
